The power of font size

I was just now working on a paper and was a short paragraph short from meeting the page requirement but didn't want to make up stuff to talk about. And then I remembered that I was typing in size 11 and could submit it in size 12. Changed the font size. Page 2 filled. Done.

Now for one more assignment, some reading, two papers (at least 1 of which I will also do in size 12 font), and I will no longer have homework.

Also. A fun quote from Bry's finance professor today (I went to his class today because Bry loves it and I wanted to see this professor for myself).

Professor: "I like dirt. I can relate to it."

A random post about me

Okay. So because I want a break from homework, here's a random post, although it is related to the homework I am working on.

For my leadership class, early on in the semester, I took a personality test that rated me in a few areas based on my responses. One of those areas was extraversion. The results for extraversion crack me up. See if you can figure out why. Bry could.

"You are equally fond of having fun with others and being alone. In general, you are energetic but not overenthusiastic. You like your privacy but also do well in groups. At parties or in a group, you do not feel a need for attention. If asked or if there is a reason to do so, you will voice your opinion. You do not feel the need to be busy all the time, but you are also not one to simply relax. You feel comfortable with people who are not afraid to take the initiative when the situation arises. But you can also deal with people who are introverted or who crave attention. You enjoy contact with others, but this is not essential. You can appear to be both hesitant and spontaneous."

Have you ever...

Gone into a store to buy a skirt, jeans, or shoes and come out with a cheese grater?

No?

Oh... well, me either...

Happenstance on Ninth

Bry and I had a probably once-in-a-lifetime moment this afternoon in the BYU Creamery on Ninth.

We were standing in line with our few groceries. As we came up to the cashier, Bry noticed the guy's name tag and saw that he was from Saskatoon. So they talked just a bit, and the guy behind us in line spoke up and mentioned he's from Manitoba and they should have a hockey party or something. How CRAZY IS THAT? All the prairie provinces represented in the same place - and a grocery store at that!

It was really cool. Bry was pretty excited.

Grateful for small miracles

So I was going to have to do a huge project for Recreation Management (REC M) and do my big presentation for Compensation and Benefits yesterday - right after having a weekend down in Phoenix for an HR Case Competition. I was basically freaking out about a week ago because I had NO idea how I was supposed to prepare and be ready to do both in the same day. However, last week my Comp & Ben professor asked to move me from Monday to Wednesday because we were going to have a guest speaker on Monday.

MIRACLE.

So I was able to focus on REC M yesterday and get that all DONE! I'm still somewhat worried about my presentation for tomorrow because I have not researched nearly as much as I had hoped to by this point. So I started to think about how I wish I had had to present earlier in the semester for Comp & Ben since I've had homework from my block class added into my schedule and 2 hours cut out of my Tuesdays.

HOWEVER.

I realized tonight that tomorrow is probably the best Wednesday for me to present because my religion homework didn't take very long (1-1.5 hours), and I have ZERO homework for my leadership class (by chance) or my REC M (since yesterday was our final project). It's great.

So yay for small miracles! Now I must get back to work!

Jotting Inverter

Just thought I'd share a bit of what Brian Regan said last night. I don't remember it exactly word for word, but it went something like this.

"My doctor told me I should eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a pauper.

I must have jotted it down wrong because I ended up eating breakfast like a king, lunch like a hippopotamus, dinner like an 800-pound gorilla and a midnight snack like a humpback whale.

I must have inverted something when I was jotting notes. People call me the jotting inverter. They think I don't hear them say that, but I do."

Small miracles

Not all of you may consider these two things to be miracles, but to me they were.

1. This morning, I looked up the religion homework I thought I would have to do today which likely would have resulted in me doing about half and getting half credit. However, when I checked my course website (via LearningSuite), I discovered I had already done it! I don't remember when I did, but I did it and that was one less thing to worry about today.

2. I needed to print and cut a lot of pictures for an in-class activity tomorrow that my team is in charge of. This issue had miracles in two parts.
a. Our printer hadn't been doing well with color and when I tried to print some of the pictures they turned out strangely green. I opened my desk drawer which I was certain didn't have any more ink in it because I had checked for some a while back, and lo and behold there was a color ink cartridge. I was able to print all of the pictures that I need for tomorrow and they look great!
b. I had a couple of friends come over to visit me (my visiting teachers for those familiar with that term), and I told them about the event I'm doing with my group tomorrow and how I'll have to cut out a ton of pictures. One of them then let me know that she has a paper cutter which I was able to borrow from her and it was a definite time saver and definitely beat using scissors considering I cut out (with some help from Bry) 100 pictures that averaged about 2x3inch squares.

Now I am off to bed, very late, but it could have been either much later (without the paper cutter and with religion homework) or come with me feeling much more stressed (without color ink to print out pictures which would have meant trying to print and cut them all on campus in the half hour break I'd have between classes).

I am so grateful for the small mercies and miracles in life.

Also, the weather was a beautiful 55 or so degrees and Bry and I were able to go for a short walk outside which was wonderful. Another miracle - it's February, in Provo, yet sunny and warm. =)
