Emma, 3 months old

Emma smiles very often and is starting to laugh on occasion which is probably my favorite sound on the planet.
She has now rolled over from tummy to back about a half dozen times.
Her neck control is great if she's not tired.
She continues to sleep through the night and now sleeps 8-11 hours a night (straight).
She still enjoys diaper changes and will let us know when she wants to be changed.
She's less into her binky than she used to be but likes it when she's sleepy.
She enjoys looking at faces and trying to talk (her "talking" sounds are adorable).
She pretty much continues to be as adorable as ever (except when she cries - she doesn't do the bottom-lip-pushed-out sad face much).
Emma is 24 inches in height although I'm not sure of her weight - probably 11-12 pounds. We'll find out weight at her next check-up which is in May.

Cutest hat ever.

Emma is 2 months old!

In honor of this, Emma's 2-month birthday, I took 250+ photos of her on my digital camera (and narrowed it down to 25 photos - you're welcome). I set my camera on Sports mode so that I could catch the action - she can be pretty wiggly, and baby smiles are hard to catch! She was very good for most of the two photo shoots.

As a note, she is wearing a disposable diaper in the pictures she's wearing pink, and a cloth diaper in the pictures she's wearing blue; usually she's in cloth.

Lately, Emma has made it pretty clear that she LOVES to be outside in the sunshine which we have had a good amount of the last week (Seattle area isn't always overcast).
She's smiling a fair amount each day- sometimes randomly into space, sometimes at the butterfly on her  bouncer, sometimes at people.
Occasionally she watches us talk to her and tries to imitate the way our mouths move and she'll "coo" and squeak to try to talk or sometimes try to join in singing.
She's starting to do sad faces with a pushed out bottom lip which is adorable and makes me laugh. She's started swinging/jerking her arms now, often when she's trying to talk or is otherwise focused.
She's good at kicking a blanket off of her legs.
She's an excellent sleeper at night - she'll sleep for 7-9 hours straight, which is greatly appreciated. During the day she's usually all about power naps which makes getting things done tricky.
She loves food as much as ever - which is a lot.
And still likes her binky; although, notice that I managed to take pictures of her without it! She was in a good mood and I was very silly in keeping her amused.

UPDATE: She weighed in at 9 lbs 14 oz and 23 inches long at her 2-month check-up. She's long and lean.

Love this sweet baby. =)

First - some silly photos.

Vroom, vroom?

Now for the not-so-silly photos.

Aiden quotes

The following are quotes from Aiden when he was here earlier this month. I love that little boy.

(While talking to Isaac about how he shouldn't put a toy in his mouth because it might be dirty and then we'd have to clean his mouth:) "And use soap on my tongue? That would be icky. We never do that, dad."

(While at the hotel where the guys stayed, talking with my dad about the little kitchen in their hotel room and motioning to the fridge:) "Food comes down when you're not looking. And it goes back up when you are looking."

(While sitting on the sliding foot rest for our ottoman:) "I'm king of the mountain and a tiger."

(After my dad says he doesn't want to go outside with Aiden on the porch because it's cold:) "You can put on a jacket."
My dad: "Where's your jacket?"
Aiden: "I'm not cold. I don't need a jacket."

(After I told him not to play with our folding chairs:) "I'm not going to play with them; I'm just making a tent."

Emma's baby blessing weekend

I'm behind on blogging, I know. I started to do this blog and then realized I didn't know how exactly to describe what a baby blessing is in my church. Anyway. Here's my post:

It's so nice to have family visit. =) Earlier this month, Emma turned one month and was given her baby blessing at church the following Sunday. (For anyone who doesn't know, a baby blessing - as I understand it - is given to officially recognize a baby's name to add to church records and also to give other blessings as the person giving the blessing receives promptings through the Spirit of God; the blessing is given by a man - usually the father, as was the case with Emma - holding the baby and other men who hold the priesthood standing with him in a circle.)

Bry's sister Allison and her family came up from Portland. Bry's aunt and uncle came up from Dallas, Oregon (not Texas). The guys from my family came from California - my dad, Isaac, Patrick, and even Aiden.

Here are some pictures with Emma in her blessing dress.

The headband was too huge for her head, so I didn't have her wear it for her blessing.

Pretty, poofy dress

Binky baby face!!

There were even flowers on her socks.

First family photo

The guys all happened to wear blue 2-3 button shirts on the same day - I had to get a picture.

We're parents!

This month has gone by so fast. Our little Emma arrived on the 7th at 12:21am weighing 8 lbs 2 oz. She's already 3 weeks old and has had several visitors.

Labor and delivery went smoothly and we were in the hospital for just 2 days.

Emma likes her awake time and typically stays awake for about 2.5 hours at a time. Her sleeping has become more varied lately and she'll sleep for 1-4 hours, sometimes she has had a longer chunk of sleep here and there at night (4.5ish hours), but typically about 3 hours. She very much so likes to eat food and lots of it. She likes to grab her face with her hands. She likes pacifiers. She doesn't spit up which is AWESOME. She's a very calm baby most of the time. She likes baths and feels all warm and cozy afterwards.

She's a very good baby and although her being here has changed a lot of how my day goes it has been great and I'm glad to have her. She's a sweet little soul and we love her. =)

Thanks to Becca for the photos!
